I’ve been really fortunate lately…Lots of newborn sessions. This one was particularly special, since it is my NIECE! Finley joined her big brother (and her three boy cousins). We’re all so so excited to finally meet her. She’s super sweet, of course. So happy for my brother and sis-in-law. It’s totally weird and awesome for our extended family to have its first baby GIRL!

After that long, hot summer, Brooke & Gus ordered some perfect weather for their wedding weekend, and mother nature delivered! So much fun at the absolutely GORGEOUS (but boring named) Lenexa Conference Center.

As I was leaving to shoot GJ’s senior photos the other night, my wife reminded me that we met him when he was 4. Whoa. We had a bunch of fun shooting on the soccer field and park, and even got some cool clouds to help out.

14 years ago today, I married my best friend. I knew she was pretty great, but I had no idea whom she would turn out to be.

I’ve never seen anyone give of herself more than Jennifer. Someday, our kids will GET IT: just how much she has given to them. She endlessly teaches, plays, encourages, comforts, cares, and loves them. Endlessly.

Oh yeah, and she does the same for me.

I spent last year trying to get a new business off the ground. I’m an entrepreneur at heart, and I’ll always be. The business didn’t work. Forces beyond our control assembled and beat us. We lost. A lot. But she has never been more supportive. Every day of this ordeal has been tolerable because of Jennifer. While I was out trying to kill something and drag it home, she was at home working 12+ hour days, every day. Cooking. Cleaning. Encouraging.

You know what she wants me to do next? Try again. Try something new. Every day, she’s encouraging me to pick myself up and try again. While she stays home and prepares our children for the world.

Watching her give of herself reminds me of someone I’m trying to know better every day. I pray that my kids see that and make that connection. I’m sure they will, because they have the best teacher.
